 My First Paphiopedilum

Above her head, lofty but demure, a velvet halo suffused with purple.  At it's heart streaks of green like an emerald accent on an evening sky.  Drooping with the most gentle lilt, the petals waft down. A translucent green again gives way to purple as spots ride the flow, as if cascading through running water.  Reaching out and down we see the lip a dark purple, complexly textured, soft and inviting. Peaking above the lip a touch of the column peaks over, hinting at the pollination mechanism below. This Paphiopedilum was my first and its' easy to see how I fell in love!
